Cedar Breaks National Monument sits an elevation of  over 10,000 feet, according to a web search the highest point is 10,662 feet, and we had a photo of a sign when we were at 10,460 feet!  Quite the ascent from Central Minnesota!   Cedar Breaks is often referred to as a mini Bryce Canyon has it does have similar rock formations and colorations.   It does have the advantage of much smaller crowds but be aware that, like Bryce, the elevation can be disconcerting for those who are not used to it!  Oxygen levels can be 75% of what is found at sea level so it is wise to slow down and take it easy.

Visit the NPS site for more information and click here to see photos from the trip!

We added this to our trip because it was three and a half hours from Tipanogos Cave National Monument and 49 minutes from the Kolob Canyons Visitor Center of Zion National Park.

What surprised us the most was the fact, in areas, there was still snow on the ground and at the visitor center the boys could walk right up to it and touch it.  If I remember correctly the temperatures at Cedar Breaks was in the high 60s whereas it was in the 90s at the tiny house we were staying at!
